There are lots of companies out there that have sold my email address and my spam is growing. As a small business owner you always want to promote your website through web or other means.
If you are using web to promote your website, you are always faced with registering to their website and there are lots of big companies website who have sold my email address.
How do I know if companies sold your email address?
I have mapped my domain email to gmail, therefore I can have any email address ending with @myclozet.net. Whenever I register with different companies, I use their domain name@myclozet.net as my email address.
Therefore, they are the ones who are aware of my email address. Example I register with walmart then my email address is walmart@myclozet.net.
Now if they sell my email address, then the third party who bought it would have my email address as walmart@myclozet.net. Therefore, if I receive email from walmart@myclozet.net which contains spam mail then I know walmart sold my email address.
I am just taking an example of walmart, they have not sold it.
Here are the list of website that have sold my email address:
1) www.searchenginecollege.com
2) www.quancast.com
3) www.wholinkstowhome.com
I will keep you posted about other website. So be aware while creating an account with these companies.

You have to be careful online. When you sign
up with companies,there is always a risk.They
get paid for your info, that's awful. Thanks for
sharing.People need to be informed.

No wonder I am getting all these spam in my email. I have emails offering me college degrees online and have people emailing me about other stuff that I never signed up for as well. I hate that it crams up my storage space in my email and I have to go through all of them to delete what's not important.
